Evan Wood
President, JumpWood Marketing
Evan is the founder and President of JumpWood Marketing, a Toronto-based agency that develops sustainable communication programs for organizations in the travel & tourism industry. By providing marketing communication alternatives that truly deliver on consumers’ expectations, JumpWood helps create a better overall experience and superior return on clients’ marketing investments. JumpWood currently works with clients such as G.A.P Adventures, HomesAway, and Pure Canadian Adventures.
With the proliferation of travel suppliers, and an increasingly connected, informed and empowered consumer, marketing success is increasingly determined based on how well companies manage the customer relationship and overall multi-channel experience. Evan firmly believes that companies that fail to adapt to this new consumer-centric reality do so at their peril. In a world of social networking, blogs, podcasts, and other new media, ‘old school’ intrusive marketing campaigns with little value-add will no longer be simply ignored by consumers – they will create a groundswell of negative feedback and significant backlash that can seriously damage a company’s brand.
Evan has more than 18 years of expertise in marketing, communications, and relationship management, on both the client and service sides of the business. He is regularly published in marketing media and is a frequent speaker on relationship marketing strategy and customer experience management.
Readers can subscribe to the monthly JumpWood Report for practical ideas, information, and insights on experience management and relationship marketing, and read more about Evan’s travel and tourism (mis)adventures on his blog, The Experience.
Prior to establishing JumpWood Marketing, Evan was a Partner at Digital Cement Inc., a relationship management firm catering to Fortune 1000 companies. He worked closely with clients such as FedEx, Kraft Foods and Dell to create award-winning communication programs and relationship marketing strategy. Evan has also held executive positions at Hewlett-Packard and with Cossette Communications, Canada’s leading advertising and communications group.
Travel and adventure are also in Evan’s blood. The son of a former diplomat, he has lived, traveled and worked in more than 60 countries, and is multilingual. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, been scuba diving in the Blue Hole, and watched the sun rise over Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
Evan is an active sportsman and also recently returned from a 6-month sabbatical in Europe with his wife and 5 sons.
